The above montage shows pictures of just a few areas of where the Tory run council has let us down, with land grabs, proposed closures and unwanted re-developments, all under their watch.
Not forgetting the Charlton Lane “Eco Park,” to add insult to injury we will now have to pay extra to dispose of some kinds of household waste.
These councillors seem to have inflated egos. If their allowances were based on merit, would a reduction seem unfair?
SOCIAL CARE FOR MENTALLY
INFIRM TO WORSEN
Surrey’s provision for victims of mentally confused elderly residents is already barely adequate even in the county’s wealthy areas. But in Spelthorne there is no social secure placement available whatever and this has been the deplorable situation for the last 18 months. The number of residents at risk in the borough on British Medical Association figures exceed 2500.
Each individual case impacts severely on a whole family. But now two Tory measures will inevitably worsen the drastic crisis.
· The decision to raise the minimum wage to £9 per hour would be welcome if the government, having made the increase a statutory imperative, provided the funds for Surrey’s social care budget.
However, with brutal cynicism, the Tories refuse to do so. Therefore staffing levels will be cut again, with the anger and distress calculated to fall, not on the government but on the local authority. This is political hypocrisy.
· ‘Private Eye’s’ August edition reveals worrying facts about the
organisation which provides, splendidly, care in the country’s wealthy areas.
Being a business it must put profit first, even if patient care is reduced.
Its profits for 2013 - 2014 are £18 million pounds.
Under Labour’s policy of bringing mental infirmity into the N.H.S this enormous sum would be directed to patient care,
not private gain from Human suffering.
